Quality requirements for crane limit switches

November 12, 2021

Travel switch, a type of position switch (also known as limit switch), is a commonly used low-current master electrical appliance. The collision of the moving parts of the production machinery is used to make the contacts actuate to switch on or off the control circuit to achieve certain control purposes. Usually, this type of switch is used to limit the position or stroke of mechanical motion, so that the motion machine can automatically stop, move in the opposite direction, move at a variable speed, or move back and forth automatically according to a certain position or stroke.

In the electrical control system, the role of the position switch is to achieve sequence control, positioning control and position status detection. It is used to control the stroke and limit protection of mechanical equipment. Structure: Consists of operating head, contact system and housing.

In actual production, the crane travel switch is installed in a pre-arranged position. When the module mounted on the moving part of the production machinery hits the travel switch, the contact of the travel switch will act to switch the circuit. Therefore, the travel switch is an electrical appliance that switches the circuit according to the travel position of the moving part, and its function principle is similar to that of a button.

Travel switches are widely used in various machine tools and hoisting machinery to control their travel and perform terminal limit protection. In the elevator control circuit, the travel switch is also used to control the speed of opening and closing the car door, the limit of the automatic door opening and closing, and the upper and lower limit protection of the car.

The travel switch can be installed on relatively stationary objects (such as fixed frames, door frames, etc., referred to as still life) or moving objects (such as driving vehicles, doors, etc., referred to as animals). When an animal approaches a still life, the connecting rod of the switch drives the contact of the switch to cause the closed contact to break or the open contact to close. The action of the circuit and mechanism is controlled by the change of the open and closed state of the switch contact.
